Big Thoughts

Well, I'm back from my trip to Austin.  I had a great time learning what to do during a public health deployment!  Before I left, I started working on a small project for Prickley Pear and I just finished it this afternoon.

I just love this stamp!  I chose pink and black because the carstock happened to be sitting right on my desk, hee hee.  The edges of the main panel were inked in hot pink in and then dipped in glue and glitter for a fun sparkly edge.  Instead of using a magnet, I decided to use some twine to hold it closed.  Inside is a small 3x3 post it pad.  Just the perfect size to write down your big thoughts.

That's all I've got today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sketchy Post

First of all, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to the most wonderful father in the world!!!  Yes, that would be my Daddy!

Okay, now that that's out of the way, onto the crafty stuff. :)  I used this week's Mercy sketch to make two cards.  And I just love them both!  I'm allowed to say that, right?  Lol.

I purchased this adorable Loveasaurus stamp set from MFT with my little cousin Cristian in mind.  Ever since he could talk, he's been totally fascinated by dinosaurs.  Isn't it just adorable!  I have a feeling that this set will be put to good use.

And, yet again, I've used Miss You Much Jolinne to make another card.  I'd colored and paper pieced this image a while back and as I was flipping through some scraps, I found it and decided it was just meant for this sketch.  And I just love this SEI paper!  My local store ran out, so I'm off to some more online.

That's all I've got for today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Altered Puffy Box

I've been trying to use more stuff from my altered items shelf.  When I was rummaging through my shelf, I found a clear puffy box just waiting to be altered.  So, out came the Prickly Pear stamps and my PK Glitz and here's the result:
The box is just big enought to store several A2 sized cards.  Just perfect for a small stationery gift.  The red paper was stamped with black ink and the edges of the flowers were glittered up with black glitter using a quickie glue pen.  The white paper was stamped with red ink and glittered up with red glitter.  The center of the prima flower was covered with black glitter and crystal effects.

There's so many cute items waiting to be altered in my closet.  What's on your altered item shelf?

Prickley Pear Sketch Challenge

Good morning everyone! Prickley Pear is hosting another sketch challenge with the opportunity to win some goodies. Here's the sketch we're using this month:
And here's my design:
Instead of using nesties to cut out the flower, I decided to make a window on the orange cardstock. Be sure to stop by the other design team members' blogs to see what they created! Thanks for stopping by!

Peace Love and Literature

Hi guys.  A friend from work requested a Father's Day card for her father-in-law that's a retired literature professor.  Well, who better than Reading Flopsey for this card?  I recreated a card I'd previously made using more masculine colors.

I just love this patterned paper I picked up at Scrapper's Boutique.  The library card is from Maya Road.  The inside of the card reads "Peace, Love, and Literature" from MFT's I {heart} books stamp set.

Time Flies

Lately time seems to be flying away from me, so this card fits my mood perfectly AND I got to use some new toys too. :)
The main panel is a transparency from Prickley Pear.  To acheive this look, I turned the transparency over, colored the butterfly with purple copics and the clock with brown copics.  Then I coated the butterfly and clock with crystal laquer and covered the butterfly with PK Glitz Crystal glitter and the clock was covered with NST Copper glitter.  Once it was dry, I turned the ATC over and using my glue pen, I added black flock to the black parts of the butterfly to bring in some additional texture.

I used my new Martha Stewart punch on my bottom panel and my new DCWV patterned papers for all three panels.   To finish off the project, I spritzed a prima paper flower with gold shimmer spray, folded it in half and attached it to the main panel.  The shimmer spray adds the perfect touch of bling to it!
Be sure to stop by the Prickley Pear and PK Glitz blogs and leave them some love.

Father's Day

Happy Saturday, all!  Father's Day is less than a week away!  Eek, time to get those cards in the mail!  Today I have a couple of dad cards to share.

To make this card, I cut some thin cork with my Label 1 nestie, stamped out the word Dad using MFT's bling bet, and added some twill and tape measure tape.  The button embellie in the corner was made using a button that had a large hole in the center and some twill ribbon that I colored blue with my memento ink pad.

Doesn't every man want to believe he's the king of the castle?  Lol.  This card was made using MFT's Good Knight set.  The castle was stamped onto metallic silver cardstock and cut out.  The black panel is black metal sheet that was embossed with a cuttlebug folder and had the raised portion sanded.  Here's what the inside looks like:

I'll be back tomorrow with some Prickley Pear goodnes.  And, since PPRS is pairing up with PK Glitz for the next three months, you can bet that all my projects will be teeming with awesome glitzy bling.  I discovered PK Glitz last year at the CK convention and was thrilled when Nicole announced that we're pairing up with them for a while!  Stay tuned...

Gift Holders

Hola stampers!  Does everyone else have a shelf or two full of alterable items in stashed away somewhere?  Please say yes, it'll make me feel so much better. :)  Well, I was looking for something the other day and I accidentally knocked down some pencil holders that I purchased last year intending to use on some project or other.  I had a sudden lightbulb moment and came up with the idea of using them to hold a gift, like a tie perhaps...

It was the perfect fit!!  I tried placing one of Aldo's ties in there and it fit just right!  Yay!  Dad guess what you're getting for Father's Day?!?!

Now, the pink one was calling out to me and just beggin to be altered too, so I went to work adding some pizazz to it and came up with a feminine version for a graduation gift.

Isn't that raspberry color just perfect?!?!  I'm thinking of nestling a gift card in some white tissue paper so it won't rattle around in there or perhaps filling it with candy, or an ipod, or a new phone, or...  well, you get the idea.  I plan on getting more of these in holiday colors for Christmas.  They will be perfect for small gifts, or to fill with treats for friends.  Ack, I just love it when inspiration strikes!

For the graduate...

Hi there!  Today I have several graduate cards to share.  A friend requested several cards in red and gold for a graduation she's attending and she wanted them to be masculine.  Well, masculine isn't my strong suit and the first one fell a bit off the mark...

But I tried again and came up with this one.  According to the hubby, it's more masculine than the first one.

I still thought it had a bit too much embellishments for an 18 year old boy and decided to make a third one for her.

How does this look to you?  Too plain?  I'm so used to ribbon and buttons and flowers that this card feels naked to me.  I'm gonna have to start challenging myself to make more masculine cards and with Father's day around the corner, now's the perfect time to start.
